Gathering Client Priorities

The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office tasked us with creating a compelling recruitment video to attract dedicated and community-focused individuals to join their team. The client emphasized the need to showcase the diverse roles within the department and the opportunities for professional growth. They also wanted the video to reflect the values of integrity, service, and community central to their mission.

Creating Shot Wishlist

To effectively communicate the client’s vision, we developed a shot wishlist that would capture the essence of working with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office:

• Dynamic footage of officers in action—patrolling, responding to calls, and conducting investigations.
• Training sessions that highlight the rigorous preparation and skill development offered to recruits.
• Interactions between officers and community members, showing the strong relationships built through service.

Music Selection

The music selection played a crucial role in setting the tone for the recruitment video. We aimed for a motivational and inspiring track, reflecting the dedication and courage required to serve as a law enforcement officer. After exploring various options, we chose a powerful, uplifting piece that complemented the action-packed and heartfelt moments in the video.

Script Development

The script was crafted to appeal directly to potential recruits. It emphasized the rewarding nature of a career with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, highlighting the daily impact officers make in Hanover County. 

5 Initial Shoots 

We conducted multiple shoots to capture the diverse aspects of a career with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office:

• Action Scenes: Filming officers during patrols, traffic stops, and emergency responses to convey the excitement and responsibility of the job.
• Training Exercises: Capturing recruits in training, demonstrating the high level of preparation and the comprehensive support offered to new hires.
• Community Engagement: Shooting officers interacting with residents during community events and visits to local schools.

Editing and Voice Actor Selection

During editing, we focused on creating an inspiring and informative narrative. We selected a voice actor with a confident and encouraging tone to narrate the script, aligning to motivate potential recruits to take the next step in their careers. 

Getting Additional Shots

After the initial edit, we identified a few areas where additional footage could enhance the narrative. We conducted reshoots to capture more training and action sequences, ensuring the video conveyed the full spectrum of experiences potential recruits could expect. 

Final Edit

The final edit combined all the elements into a polished and compelling recruitment video. Through careful color grading, sound design, and pacing, the video effectively communicated that the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is not just a place to work but a place to grow, serve, and make a difference.
