The goal behind this short-form documentary is to inform the audience about the business, its mission, its story, and how to get involved as a viewer. By crafting an emotionally compelling video ending with a solid, clear call to action, the flow of the video feels natural and from a genuine place of passion for the work being done.
Production Process:
This style of production involves a process quite different from others. Not only is it shot interview style, but the pre-production and post-production involve a change in mindset and an unwavering confidence in your skillset. The pre-production process is short for a video of this kind since it requires a ‘thinking on your feet’ mentality and less preparation going into the shoot. This adjustment results in immense time dedicated to the editing process. Instead of carving a clear path to follow before the shoot is even scheduled, you are now making creative choices on the fly and then needing to craft a final product over the following days, weeks, or months with those decisions. Missing something is not an option.
Another reason this style of content works is the ‘guide’ used to walk you through all the video’s main points. Creating an immersive experience for the viewer while showcasing a speaker with first-hand experience and dedication to the organization (and their spot within it) allows for a real connection to be formed. The speaker has built-in credibility, making for a compelling perspective and more freedom in creating the content without needing to dedicate time in the video to establish that trust.
