Agency Podcast Episode 9 - How to use LinkedIn For Lead Generation

This week we’re joined by a long-term acquaintance and LeadBaller founder, Jimmy Coleman. After a brief stint in college, Coleman dropped out to sell knives. Jimmy spent three years with the company, then moved into financial services, where he honed in his animal-like marketing mentality to further his career. After joining a medical startup and applied his skillset there, he moved on to teaching and speaking about his talents and LinkedIn. His company is on pace to have 100 employees in the next year and continues to garner attention and work from big companies, such as TikTok.  

So what’s the deal with LinkedIn? And how does one fit in? And how can you make an impression?

  • LinkedIn is made up of business professionals, many in the higher income brackets, trying to recruit, share information, and make connections. It’s a platform that can benefit both B2B and B2C users, but it’s helpful if you know what you’re doing. A great example is to “swim in the opposite direction.” By that, Coleman means, stand out. Show users, you’re a person! You don’t need to have the ‘corporate’ feel, you don’t need to use your about section to humblebrag, use it as a chance for storytelling. By making your profile more personal, you’re helping yourself stand out, as well as not been seen as a ‘low-life vendor’. LinkedIn also has great tools for targeting your audience and even only seeing the profiles of those with titles that fit for your business/recruiting. Although LinkedIn isn’t as addicting as Facebook, or have groups or communities that thrive, it has it’s perks. And LinkedIn will be working to improve that aspect of its platform.
